Country: Japan Directed by Atsushi Yamatoya Japanese pinku creates, as a genre, a world capturing the essence of male gaze, as much as the mainstream hardcore porn does, however Yamatoya's film (and probably one dozen of other pinku films) manages to go beyond that, to a territory that surprisingly communicates authentically with the unconscious. Inflatable sex doll of the wasteland is a poetic, art house film, a dark, nihilistic dream, where the male characters seem to suffocate under a somehow abstract existential agony that never ends, same as their enormous thirst for vulnerable naked women bodies that, unresponsive as they are,can't give to them any type of salvation
