Soon we realize that Chin Peng is rather an excuse for the director to connect a past that is kind of taboo in Malaysia with the present without taking sides .The last communist' is a very interesting movie that plays with the historical documentary, the musical, the filmed cultural journey, the indirect political essay .At the end is none of them: as often with the movies of Muhhamad what you receive is a complex reality that celebrates the diversity of his country
