110. Insiang (1976)

Country: Philippines
Directed by Lino Brocka

A real masterpiece that I never feel bored to watch again and again! Lino Brocka directs with a sense of documentary giving to the spaces and environment ( the slums that are presented in the movie) equal importance with the faces and characters. The actors are ideal for their roles. O' Hara's scenario is just brilliant giving to the film a quality in a direction that makes it what it is: a well balanced melodrama, a political thesis about the social injustice, a feminist manifesto. Even if Insiang is a low budget modest film that never tries to use the misery or violence as a way to impress , is full of scenes and moments that ,if you watch once, you will never forget and they will follow you for years
