44. Women's quarter (1965)

Country: Iran
Directed by Kamran Shirdel

My admiration for Kamran Shirdel is beyond words : almost every work of his is a masterpiece. 'Women's quarter' though , an unfinished documentary of 18 minutes,  is my personal favorite. The film is about women and little girls that forced to work as a prostitutes in the red light district of Tehran in the middle 60's when the country still was under the administration of shah Pahlavi. You have just to watch it to feel how powerful is: then you will feel devastating after your exposure with bold way to such despair. Finally the film ends up to work as a political statement

You can watch the movie here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dyG9q7hnJ8 (part 1) and here:
